Developing Illustration Work

Once I had my final set of primary research, I chose the photos/objects I liked and opened these in photoshop. I wanted to eventuate the shadows using levels, although they look awful on screen, it would make a lot it a lot easier for me to draw.

This time as I was working from actual real life photographs my drawings would be a lot more proportionate (learning from last time). I bought a couple of pens for my illustration work this time so I could do it properly.

These pens really helped me when it came to designing, especially the Posca pen which is incredible! It allowed me to really get the look I desired with the black really standing away from the white just like the work of mrzyk&moriceau .

I really like this drawings, done with a fine liner and a Posca pen, I took inspiration from the artists I’d researched and played around with positive and negative space. Whether to accentuate the shadow or the light. You can see the inspiration I took from the artists I researched, such as mrzyk & moriceau. To be honest I was really considering leaving them black and white exactly how these artists do but that is no the type of band we are. We are not a black and white band and colour is very much a big part in the music and visually. It expresses the fun and happiness.

I am really glad I got to explore illustration in this project as this was one of my main outcomes in my brief proposal . I feel like I’ve developed this skill a lot during this project and I’e discovered a new way of working that I’ll definitely use in the future and hopefully further develop.

Now that I have drawings I am happy, they can go through to the next stage which is digital edit and eventually what will become my final design. These will be my main focal point of my design I think
